Join the Washington State Budget and Policy Center in Tacoma on November 17 for Budget Matters 2026, a policy summit focused on building momentum to transform our tax code.

The Washington State Budget and Policy Center is a research and policy organization dedicated to advancing economic justice for everyone in the state.

In recent years, people from Pierce County to Spokane County have come together to rally in support of passing a Millionaires Tax, a capital gains tax, and the Working Families Tax Credit. These wins are transformative to our upside-down tax code and toward generating funding for programs and infrastructure Washington people rely on.

As the Budget and Policy Center celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, we’re reminded that community action is essential to building momentum toward a brighter future. We’re excited our annual policy summit will feature regional and national leaders that showcase the breadth of voices behind this push for economic justice in our state.

Our keynote panel, “Building Statewide Power for Tax Code Reform,” will feature Denisse Guererro from the Washington Community Alliance, Elana Maner from Rural People’s Voice, Emma Scalzo from Balance Our Tax Code, and Jeron Mariani from the State Revenue Alliance. The program will also feature Don Griswold from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, who will talk about corporate tax accountability, and Budget and Policy Center team members, who will share their expertise on our state budget and tax code.

We look forward to seeing you at our Budget Matters policy summit in Tacoma to honor what we’ve accomplished together and to talk about what we can do next to advance tax justice and economic justice in our state
